FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

Katie S. had this fun idea of FLASHBACK FRIDAY on her blog, so I decided today I would try it too. So here is a picture of David with a beard (from 1970's) and also a bonus, my dad and Uncle Dandy with beards too.

While I'm at it, I would like to wish a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Randy. His birthday was last week. I kept waiting for one of his blogging daughters to make a post, but I must have missed it. I saw Cooper walking and Baby A and B, which I'm sure Papa Randy appreciated, but nothing about dear OLD dad, who is MUCH older than me now!

Casita Progress Report

Lots of work has been done on the casita lately, but I'm not sure who is responsible.
Here, David and Spencer are discussing the best way to install the rough plumbing.

Looks like David is supervising while Spencer and Jared install the pipe.

Spencer is "fixing" Papa David's rough work.
Jared is very interested in the blue glue.

All enclosed and with windows and door installed, it's starting to look more like a home.

David installed a temporary ramp. Later there will be a covered deck in front.

Jared is inviting David in for a look. He did this about 600 times. David installed lever door handles which we thought would be easier for Ellen. As it turns out, it's also easier for kids to open than a knob.

35th Anniversary

We met at the Institute of Religion In December 1971 when we were both asked to play our guitars for a performance at B.C. Don't be shocked that we both played the guitar. David has a really nice Gibson, which he played a lot more in those days, probably to impress the girls(me). He also had a beard and wore a really soft leather coat. So we got to know each other a little while rehearsing, and then went our separate ways for Christmas brake. I went to Utah to visit friends after Christmas and thought about him the whole time. When I got back, he asked me out. We went to Mexicali on our first date, for lunch. He had an Easter egg blue '69 Volkswagon with an eight-track tape player on which we played John Denver and folk music, which was very popular in those days. Since his return from his mission, David had decided he would never date the same girl twice in a row and had stuck to it, even though it sometimes meant pretty creative dating. I was told that after he met me, he broke this rule. On June 1, 1972 (he picked this date so he could remember it easily) after asking my dad's permission, he proposed. We were married September 16, 1972 in the Los Angeles Temple. The picture above is the one we sent out with our wedding announcement. It's impossible for me to express how much I love David and why, but he KNOWS. We have been truly blessed through the years we've been together and are so fortunate to have a wonderful family. We receive a great amount of joy in our posterity and look forward to serving in the temple together and on missions after David retires.

Casita Update

Lot of people have been asking David about the Casita, so he asked me to post a picture. He's been framing this week despite the scorching heat, so it's gaining height!

Happy Birthday Spencer!

Spencer's got a wonderful imagination. He likes to have fun and play with his brothers. But, he doesn't like change. It takes him awhile to decide if he likes something, but once he does, you can't tear him away from it. Some of his favorite foods are waffles, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and pizza. He loves to play with ropes and remote control vehicles. We love him a lot!
